Advice Sought by SQE Candidate
A student of the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) is reaching out to the community for guidance and to learn about others’ experiences in similar situations.
“I took the first part of the SQE, SQE1, in January and, unfortunately, I managed to pass the first legal knowledge test, FLK1, but fell short on the second, FLK2, by just a few points. Consequently, my law firm has decided to withdraw my training contract offer, despite the mitigating circumstances I presented and my plea for them to reconsider. Although I recognize that law firms must adhere to their policies, the outcome has been quite upsetting and discouraging for me.”
“I’m eager to hear if there are any accounts of law firms dealing with similar scenarios in a more lenient manner. Are there stories of other aspiring solicitors who have encountered this issue? I am interested in learning about my future possibilities, whether that involves obtaining another training contract after completing the SQE or exploring other paths into the legal profession.”
“Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.”
