A junior attorney seeks guidance
In the most recent edition of our Career Conundrums series, a junior attorney is contemplating a transition from a Magic Circle firm to the London branch of a US-based law firm and is eager to gain a clearer understanding of the distinctions between the two.
“Hello. I am approaching two years of post-qualification experience (2PQE) and am considering a shift from my current position at a Magic Circle firm to a US law firm located in London. I may have a potential opportunity on the horizon, but I would like to know what key differences I should anticipate, particularly regarding workplace culture and management approaches, among other factors. I prefer not to disclose the name of the US firm for confidentiality reasons, but it is one of the smaller firms in the City. I would appreciate insights from others who have undergone similar transitions.”
