“Greetings, I am currently in my final year of law school, anticipating my graduation this June with an expected 2:1 degree from a prestigious Russell Group university. So far, I have not secured a training contract. I’ve opted to halt my applications for the remainder of the year to concentrate on my dissertation and upcoming exams.
Looking ahead to next year, I’m torn between self-funding the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) and seeking employment as a paralegal. The cost of self-funding is daunting, and the fear of not obtaining a training contract—either next year or at all—makes me anxious about potentially wasting substantial amounts of money. On the other hand, I’m aware of the competitive nature of paralegal positions and am concerned that pursuing this path could leave me unemployed and with an undesirable gap in my CV.
