As part of our ongoing Career Conundrums series, a 30-something individual with aspirations of becoming a solicitor is contemplating a switch from marketing to a legal career in the City.
“Currently, I hold a position in marketing within the finance industry. While this role was once fulfilling, I’ve reached my 30s and am now eager to pursue a career in law — a field I’ve been interested in shifting to for several years. My educational background includes a law degree from Oxford, after which I unintentionally ventured into marketing. Would law firms consider my application seriously? Are there particular types of law firms that are more welcoming to applicants who are older or those transitioning from different careers? I’d prefer to remain anonymous. Thank you.”
