Seeking Guidance from Peers
In this installment of our Career Dilemma series, a trainee solicitor is curious about the perception of utilizing the firm’s gym facilities during work hours.
“Hello. I have a somewhat unusual dilemma I’d like to share with your audience… I am currently a trainee at a law firm in the City that has a gym on the premises. It’s not particularly extravagant, but it meets my needs. Would it reflect poorly on me if I took a brief break to work out during the day? I usually work through my lunch hour, eating while sitting at my desk, which doesn’t leave me with any time for exercise then. There are naturally some quieter periods throughout the day when I believe I could fit in a workout! I’ve noticed a few colleagues using the gym during the day, but I have mostly opted to go after work before heading home.”
