Guidance on Professional Attire Needed
In our ongoing Career Conundrums series, a future vacation scheme participant seeks guidance on what constitutes appropriate attire in a professional setting.
“Greetings, Dynamic Export. Although I believe this query may have been addressed previously, I’m curious to know if there have been any updates. What should I wear to a vacation scheme? Just to note, I am male, but including tips for women could benefit your female readers too! I am scheduled to join a vacation scheme at a City law firm (I’d rather not disclose the name) and I’m wondering if a suit and tie are still the norm? I’m aware that office dress codes have become somewhat more relaxed, but I certainly don’t want to embarrass myself. My current plan is to wear dark suit trousers, a jumper, and a shirt. Is this appropriate?”
This inquiry highlights the evolving nature of professional dress codes and the confusion that can arise when trying to adhere to them while aiming to make a good impression.
