Virgin Australia now offers business-class seating on flights across the Tasman Sea, enhancing the airline’s premium service to New Zealand and Pacific Island markets.

The inaugural trans-Tasman business-class flight took place on February 28 on the Sydney−Auckland route.

All other business-class services throughout the region will begin on March 31.

Ten of the airline’s Boeing 737 fleet are being refitted with the 2-2 business-class configuration featuring leather seating, with priority check-in, boarding, and baggage services.

Other luxuries for Virgin Australia Business Class travellers on these routes include comfort packs with blankets, pillows, and international amenity kits for flights over three hours.

As well, resident head chef Luke Mangan has prepared gourmet menus for business class passengers.

Diners can expect a selection of premium Australian wines, beers, and spirits as well as gourmet tea from Madame Flavour. Complimentary newspapers will be provided until noon.

Virgin Australia Chief Commercial Officer Judith Crompton said: “These markets are a very important focus for us given the growth in business travel between Australia and New Zealand and we are committed to offering great value Business Class fares.

“The rollout of Business Class completes our premium customer proposition across key international markets and importantly, allows us to deliver a more consistent customer experience in conjunction with our alliance partner, Air New Zealand.”

Business Class fares with Virgin Australia start from A$699 on the Sydney to Auckland routes.

The airline was voted the Best Domestic Business Airline by Roy Morgan for the first time in February last year.
