FedEx Express has announced the winners of its Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge Australia Finals 2018.
The young entrepreneurs will represent Australia at the Asia Pacific Finals to be held in Singapore from August 12-15. They will compete against 54 students from nine other markets.
At the Australia Finals this year, 121 students presented their market entry strategies for an outdoor product entering Papua New Guinea. Sixteen were invited to present in front of a panel of judges at the local competition.
The judging panel, composed of FedEx and Junior Achievement representatives, evaluated the ideas based on the originality of their concept, feasibility of their strategy, and thoroughness of research for their business plans.
The six winners are:
1. Rainbow Yang, North Sydney Girls High School
2. Cosmin Luca, Ryde Secondary College
3. Vedant Virmani, Normanhurst Boys High School
4. John Bivell, Fort Street High School
5. Selena You, Pymble Ladies’ College
6. Sarah Lovelady, Ascham School
All finalists previously attended a one-day workshop to learn more about international trade and developed a market entry strategy as a precursor to developing their own individual plans for submission.
Now in its 12th year, the FedEx challenge has inspired more than 17,000 students in Asia Pacific, including more than 200 students from Australia, to understand and appreciate entrepreneurialism from a global perspective.
