Gulftainer’s Khorfakkan Container Terminal (KCT) has been awarded Shipping Port of the Year at the annual Supply Chain & Transport Awards (SCATA), held in Dubai.
Paul Hennessy, Gulftainer’s operations manager, UAE Terminals and Dan Wright, KCT’s terminal manager, received the award at the recent Supply Chain & Transport Awards ceremony.
The SCATA Shipping Port of the Year is awarded to the shipping port or terminal that has delivered world-class services and facilities across the Middle East in the past 12 months, to honour its exceptional performance in the field of terminal management.
The only fully fledged operational container terminal in the UAE located outside the Strait of Hormuz, KCT has been one of the most important transhipment hubs for the Arabian Gulf, the Indian Sub-continent, the Gulf of Oman and the East African markets, due to its unique geographic location.
The vast majority of container traffic through Khorfakkan Container Terminal is transhipment and as such the port has invested heavily in expanding its infrastructure to meet the demands of shipping lines that are launching ever-larger container ships.
Gulftainer is a privately owned, independent terminal operating and logistics company, with ports and logistics businesses in several countries, including the UAE, Iraq, Pakistan, Brazil, Lebanon, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the United States.
