A delegation of 70 Queensland cleantech exporters will attend the BIO International Conference in Atlanta, USA on a mission that Queensland Trade Minister Stephen Robertson has marked as a chance for the state to build on valuable global partnerships in the space. Speaking at the International Trade Outlook 2009 conference in Los Angeles yesterday, Robertson acknowledged that climate change issues were a challenge for industry but had a potential to become a "major driving force for business growth" this century. "The increased global focus on addressing climate change means that the demand for clean, green technologies, products and services is on the increase, and because of ongoing government and industry investment, Queensland is in a position to help meet much of that demand," he said. Robertson added: "Importantly, Queensland continues an active program to seek out new collaborations with our overseas partners, including in the USA, to invest in green technology to support international moves towards a cleaner future with lower carbon emissions."
