The Links Group, a company formation specialist in the UAE and Qatar, has strengthened its team in Australia with the appointment of a new Sydney-based consultant.

Mr David Burgess will support increasing demand from Australian investors to establish a commercial presence in the Middle East.

With Australia strengthening its economic strategic ties with the Middle East, The Links Group says demand from Australian companies to set up a regional hub in the UAE is rising.

The company recently partnered with the Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce & Industry to facilitate this investor interest, providing valuable market intelligence in a bid to enhance bilateral trade and diplomatic relationships.

According to Gerard Seeber, Senior Trade Commissioner and Consul-General at the Australian Consulate-General in Dubai, the UAE remains Australia’s most important trading partner in the Middle East with overall trade between both countries valued at A$5.1 billion in 2012.

David Burgess will oversee The Links Group’s business development, strategy and operations in Australia.

Mr Burgess has extensive service industry experience as a senior manager in public and private companies. He previously worked at Managing Director and CEO level for a diverse range of commercial and residential property service companies in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and UK.

Promising markets for foreign investors

Most recently Mr Burgess was Divisional CEO of a large privately owned business in Dubai, a position he held for five years before returning to Australia to establish his own consultancy business.

“The Middle East region remains among the most promising markets for foreign investors from every corner of the globe, said Mr Burgess. “The Links Group does a great job of connecting foreign businesses to these market opportunities and I look forward to playing a part in supporting Australian businesses to expand to the Middle East.”

Mr John Martin St. Valery, founding partner of The Links Group said: “Following our recent partnership with the Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce & Industry, we have experienced growing demand for our company formation and consultancy services, particularly in the states of NSW and Victoria.

“With exports and investments playing a major role in the sustainable growth of the Australian economy, our Australia Consultant will be able to offer valuable insight on how best to enter the Middle East to capitalise on the lucrative business opportunities in the region.”
