Global e-commerce tech provider, Doddle, has opened offices in Sydney and Melbourne to expand its presence in the region.
Doddle’s e-commerce technology platform helps retailers offer consumers a seamless delivery and returns experience.
The Australian launch follows Doddle's recent expansion to the US, with the company planning to enter further markets across APAC within the next 12 months.
The company has appointed Justin Dery as APAC CEO and Rachel Caton, Sales & Marketing Director, both based in Sydney and Liam Mallett as Chief Operating Officer, based in Melbourne.
Doddle is headquartered in London with teams and partners in the US, Europe, Middle East and now Australia.
The company began as a Click and Collect service. It now covers every aspect of online and in-store shopping.
Doodle’s tech-enabled delivery ecosystem now enables processes like Click & Collect, Pick & Ship and Digital Returns.
Building customer loyalty
This enables retailers to drive sales and create a market-leading service that attracts customers and builds loyalty.
Founder of Travelex, Sir Lloyd Dorfman, is an investor in Doddle and Chairman.
Its customers include Marks & Spencer and Sports Unlimited Retail.
Doddle's retail and logistics technology solutions cover every aspect of e-commerce fulfilment – from in-store click and collect to enabling digital and self-service returns.
The company has enjoyed 114% year-on-year transaction growth driven in part by the growth of click & collect in the UK, which has outpaced the growth of online retail.
Mr Dery says Australia is a prime market for Doddle, prompting the company to open offices in Sydney and Melbourne and build local teams across sales, customer care and tech to support its ambitious growth plans for the region.
Period of rapid transformation
"The retail sector is going through a period of rapid transformation,” he says. “The arrival of major international giants such as Amazon, growth in online and consumers demanding greater speed and convenience, are shining the spotlight firmly on customer experience.”
This particularly applies to “the last mile” and how retailers can optimise that experience to deliver a competitive advantage.
Doddle's technology platform helps retailers, including major multi-channel retail chains, to increase competitiveness through more compelling delivery and returns propositions and generate more sales, Mr Dery says.
“On average, 58% of consumers collecting or returning orders in the stores of Doddle’s retail partners, go on to make additional purchases in-store."
Paul Greenberg, founder and executive director of retail industry network, NORA, says click and collect is a very exciting option.
“Solutions such as Doddle's make it easy for retailers to offer their stores as pick up points.
“It's good news for retailers and their customers who are seeking more choice and convenience than ever before."
