Leading Australian Customs clearance agency Platinum Freight Management will from this month offer face-to-face consultations and phone brokering advice and services in Mandarin, embracing Chinese Australian businesses who import and export.

Led by Client Service Manager Le Chen, the Mandarin division is an important growth area for the Australian-based business, which has a footprint in six Australian states and territories, as well as Hong Kong and, since June this year, Auckland New Zealand.

Le Chen said: “We believe that many fees and charges are extraneous and only charged because brokers don’t learn the detail of a business. By working closely with our clients, in their first language, we can discover more about their importing and exporting needs to ensure we negotiate the lowest fees and charges possible.” 

While some brokers employ Mandarin-speaking staff to liaise with the Chinese port and customs authorities, Platinum Freight believes there is room to improve the client-facing services available to Mandarin speakers.
