Country of Origin labelling is just 20 days away.
From July 1, products on supermarket shelves will be legally required to display country of origin information.
"There's just 20 days to go until our country of origin labelling becomes law," said Minister for Agriculture David Littleproud.
"This is great news for customers and companies,” he said.
"Aussie customers will be able to choose Australian and vote with their wallets.
"Companies which source their products from Australia will be able to display it loud and proud and reap the rewards.”
Clean, green produce
Mr Littleproud said under the new labelling laws Australian consumers will have the chance to choose clean, green local produce.
"We produce the cleanest and most ethical food in the world.”
Mr Littleproud said Country of Origin labelling shouldn't stop at the supermarket – Australians should also have the chance to support local farmers in other marketplaces.
The Minister recently convened a meeting with fast food companies at which they agreed to display country of origin information on their websites and apps.
"Aussies want to support Aussie farmers and they'll soon have the chance."
