Posting on LinkedIn can often seem like a chore when you’re unsure of what content to produce. You recognize the need to build connections but find yourself pressed for time. Engaging with your network feels daunting without a clear strategy. Trust me, I’ve faced these challenges too.

In 2024, I decided to take LinkedIn seriously, and it transformed my business. My follower count grew fourfold, and I consistently attracted new clients who discovered me through LinkedIn. This success came from trial and error and meticulously noting what worked and what didn’t.

Spending time aimlessly on LinkedIn isn’t efficient, and there are undoubtedly other areas where your attention is more valuable. However, don’t let the absence of a structured approach prevent you from leveraging LinkedIn’s potential to enhance your business.

Let me show you how to streamline your LinkedIn activities to foster growth and make consistent engagement less burdensome.

Enhance Your LinkedIn Presence: Streamline Your Efforts for Success

Choose a Limited Number of Post Types

Having “write a LinkedIn post” on your daily to-do list is far from ideal. It’s overwhelming. The day-to-day approach to LinkedIn is inefficient, as each post will require more time and effort, and scrambling for ideas can be frustrating.

If this scenario sounds familiar, it’s time to pause. Don’t create another post without planning your content for the entire month. Focus on themes. Review your previous posts to determine which have been most successful, and develop them into additional posts. Pay attention to the types of posts that grab your attention in your feed—these are the ones to emulate.

You don’t need to use every posting option LinkedIn offers. Whether it’s carousels, text-only, images, or videos, the format isn’t as important as consistency. Daily decision-making depletes your mental energy. Select two or three types of posts that resonate with you and plan from there.

Establish a Content Calendar

Once you’ve decided on your post formats, lay them out visually. Perhaps you post a specific format every Monday, another every Wednesday, and so on. Establish a routine for your LinkedIn posts.

When I structured my posting this way, everything became more manageable. On Mondays, I share a short video from a previous podcast episode, which my assistant prepares. Wednesdays might feature a powerful quote that appeals to my target audience. The schedule continues similarly throughout the week.

Document your content plan. Specify what you’ll post and when. Treat this plan as a hypothesis to test and refine as needed. Many abandon LinkedIn due to lack of visible results, often from inconsistent posting. That won’t be your story.

Focus on Core Themes

Your LinkedIn content should not only showcase your expertise but also generate familiarity and trust with your audience, demonstrating your understanding of their challenges and aspirations. It should draw them to your profile, encourage them to subscribe to your newsletter, or inquire further about your services.

Consider building your topics around core principles. List ten fundamental beliefs related to your work or industry that resonate with your ideal customer. If you’re unsure, consider consulting tools like ChatGPT for ideas.

For example, my target audience consists mainly of content-rich coaches. The principles I share—like the importance of visibility, intentionality, and sharing knowledge—are encapsulated in occasional posts that summarize these ideals, helping potential clients quickly see if we align.

Merge Principles with Personal Insights

It’s one thing to post generic motivational content, but without a personal touch, these posts can seem superficial. Your network craves your unique perspective. Instead of merely quoting principles, relate them to your personal experiences.

Take the principle “intentionality is key,” for instance. Reflect on a past challenge you’ve overcome where this was a lesson. Share that story as if you were advising your past self, in a manner that would have been meaningful to you then.

The aim is for your posts to be so impactful that they prompt gratitude from your readers because it presented a new viewpoint or taught them something actionable. This approach keeps your audience engaged and coming back for more.

Adopt a Proven Post Structure

As I’ve mentioned in previous articles, the hook of your post is crucial. Without a compelling opening line, don’t bother publishing. Each post should start with a brief, engaging sentence that makes people want to read on. The following line, or the rehook, should draw them in further.

If executed well, they’ll read through to your detailed explanation and takeaway message. Conclude with a poignant, lesson-filled statement, then make it easy for readers to engage by prompting them with a question or inviting comments.

Integrate Your Strategy

With your principles and experiences outlined, your chosen formats, and your posting schedule ready, it’s time to bring all these elements together.

Allocate a couple of hours this weekend to craft your hooks, create a batch of options for each post, and select the best ones. Fill in your content calendar for the upcoming month. If you want extra assurance, test your hooks on Twitter before going live. Compile all your content in a single document for easy access by your assistant who can then schedule your posts at the optimal times with the appropriate visuals.

Set a recurring task to engage with other relevant LinkedIn accounts shortly before and after your posts go live. This engagement is essential and should be a non-negotiable part of your LinkedIn routine.

Kickstart Your LinkedIn Strategy Today

Eliminate the guesswork from your LinkedIn activities. Choose your post types, establish a schedule, and communicate your core messages through stories. Pre-planning your content simplifies the posting process.

Document your experiences and core beliefs, adhere to a structured posting format, and perfect your strategy for consistent follow-through. The sooner you implement your system, the quicker you’ll see your LinkedIn grow.
