Delta Airlines and Tiger Airways commenced flights from Sydney last week, covering the Sydney-Los Angeles route and the Sydney-Melbourne route respectively. The presence of Delta, the world's largest airline, was evidence that Sydney was still attractive to international carriers, said Russell Balding, CEO of Sydney Airport. "It is a real win for Sydney. It will boost tourism to Sydney and provides travellers with more choice when travelling between North America and Australia," he said. "It demonstrates again the benefits for the community of having Sydney Airport as the nation’s gateway."
