caseexport_coverDesign Victoria has produced a new publication to encourage the state's designers to go global. The Case for Export, launched last week, is a 60-page booklet containing case studies of emerging and established designers and their export journeys. "Learning from the experiences of others, in particular the pitfalls to avoid in the process, is invaluable for those Victorian designers considering entering the export market," said Michele Azzopardi, director of Design Victoria. Victoria's Minister for Innovation Gavin Jennings launched the publication, noting that design adds value to other sectors such as manufacturing, construction and creative industries. "The local sector also contributes $7 billion annually to our economy and accounts for more than $300 million in design-related exports," he said. "But there is great potential for the design sector to grow, especially through exporting, which would further boost our reputation as a leader in innovation and as a centre for design excellence." The Case for Export includes collaboration with export organisations, such as Austrade and the Australian Institute of Export, and the Australian Graphic Design Association, the Design Institute of Australia and Swinburne University of Technology.
