Austrade and Enterprise Connect began their Clean Technology for the Future Roadshow in Perth yesterday in a bid to introduce international opportunities in the clean energy sector to Australian businesses. "Global investment in clean energy reached US$155 billion in 2008," said Austrade’s National Industry Manager for Clean Technology Kerry Rooney. "As nations implement policies to address the challenges of climate change, trade and investment in clean energy will play an increasingly important role in building Australia’s future prosperity." She added that Australia had the potential to become world leader in the space given our expertise in areas such as renewable energy, green buildings, energy efficiency and sustainable water technologies. The seminar series follows from the Federal Government's $14.9 billion commitment towards a clean energy trade and investment strategy over three years. Other agencies involved in the series include AusIndustry, EFIC, the Industry Capability Network, and state governments from Victoria, Queensland, NSW, South Australia, Western Australia and the ACT. The roadshow is in Adelaide today and will be in Canberra on May 29, Melbourne on June 2, Sydney on June 3 and Brisbane on June 4. For more information see the Austrade events website
