Minister for Trade Simon Crean has released the details of the public tender for the development of an international brand for Australia. Officially posted at www.tenders.gov.au yesterday, the four-year process is currently open for expressions of interest until October 13, and then will go to a request for tender to shortlisted agencies. It requests a contemporary national brand that can "clearly articulate Australia’s brand position in the context of the global marketplace through the development of a brand strategy, identity, architecture and associated creative material". "We will be looking for agencies to build a contemporary national brand, one which captures the essence of Australia: not just a great place to visit but a great place to live, work, and invest, a trusted trading partner and a great place to pursue an education," said Crean. The winning agency can expect a $4 million contract over four years, with a global debut at the Shanghai World Expo next year. See AusTender for further details.
