Austrade's new G'day UK program will encourage Australian and UK businesses to come together, just like G'day USA has done in the United States. Following on from the successful American program, conducted around Australia Day every year, G'day UK will include a series of events covering four main areas: trade and investment, food and wine, migration, and tourism. "G’day UK forms part of a broader strategy by Australia to continue to develop key relations with some of the world’s most powerful economies and to demonstrate Australia’s strengths as a dynamic and world-class player on the international stage," said Kylie Hargreaves, Austrade’s senior trade commissioner for the UK. "What we want to use platforms like G’Day UK to do is pull some of that attention [to] our strong business credentials. Of Australia’s Global 100, more companies have a presence in London than any other city or urban area in the world. We need to harness the collective power of that sophisticated business brand and use it to communicate our capabilities across a host of sectors." The program will launch in London and run from June 24-30 with support from the NSW, QLD, Victorian, South and Western Australian State Governments, Austrade, Qantas and Tourism Australia in conjunction with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Wine Australia, Australian Business and key private sector sponsors.
