Australian Minister for Trade Simon Crean yesterday opened the new world-class manufacturing facility for veterinary pharmaceutical company Parnell. The plant and laboratory is one of only a few in the world licensed to manufacture highly potent sterile injectables at the standard required of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and European regulators. "We have expanded rapidly in the past couple of years, and expect that to continue now that we have our own manufacturing facility that meets the US’s stringent FDA quality standards," said Robert Joseph, CEO of Parnell. Parnell's products include Estroplan, a reproductive hormone for cattle, which has been successful in the US market and has significantly contributed to their $17 million turnover so far this year. The new facility can produce millions of Estroplan doses. Joseph says he expects new products, and contract manufacturing, to lift Parnell's turnover to $80 million in the next five years.
