A trade delegation of 27 companies due to visit Australia later this month is the largest of its kind from the UK in more than a decade, according to UK Trade & Investment. Australia's economic resilience is proving to be a magnet for British companies, said Richard Morris, director-general of UK Trade & Investment: "British companies are coming to Australia, right now, because of Australia’s continued strong economic performance, and its business. At UKTI Australia we’ve never been busier and this surge in business should be hugely beneficial to both of our economies." Morris says UK investors are leveraging traditionally strong ties between the two nations as well as reacting to the global downturn. "The UK has always been a trading nation, and, when times are tough, it's natural that we look to trade as one of the key drivers of economic growth," he said. The delegation includes companies from various industries, including medicine, sport, ICT, business and professional services and food and beverage. The companies will meet with potential partners, collaborators, suppliers, distributors and clients and some will visit trade shows including AusBiotech 2009 in Melbourne and the Carbon Market Expo on the Gold Coast.
