Software exporters QSR International have announced a funding pool of more than $40,000 to go towards six grants to academics teaching qualitative research methods in universities in the USA, Canada and the Asia-Pacific region. The grants are to be put towards QSR's flagship product, NVivo 8 or NVivo 9 software licenses, NVivo training workbooks and training and consulting services from QSR. "This is our way of helping universities and colleges to incorporate the latest qualitative data analysis software into their undergraduate and graduate courses. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to support what could be the future stars of the research industry," said QSR CEO John Owen. Two grants of $10,000 each will be awarded to non-casual academic staff working in academic institutions in Australia, New Zealand or Asia to be used in the 2011 academic year, and four grants of US$5,000 will be awarded to assistant, associate or full professors working in academic institutions in the US and Canada. NVivo 9, to be released later this year, will allow users to upload and analyse text, video, audio, images and database tables and can be used across a wide range of research methods. For more information on the teaching grant program, see the dedicated QSR International website. The USA/Canada grant applications close July 9, apply here. The Asia-Pacific grant applications close October 29, apply here.
