Queensland tourism welcomes US investment article image
US company Dellaware North has purchased five Australian resorts in a move that Queensland tourism leaders have welcomed. The company, renowned as one of the world's largest food and hospitality providers, bought resorts on Heron, Lizard and Wilson islands on Queensland's Great Barrier Reef. "We can only benefit from an international connection like that," said Daniel Gschwind, CEO of the Queensland Tourism Industry Council. "Those resorts will and do rely on international visitors, they do rely on international trade and to have that important international connection through that investment company is a very good step." Dellaware North turns over more than $2 billion and year and employs some 50,000 people worldwide.
