Trade Queensland's Export Week began yesterday with a series of Commissioners' Events across the state where Queensland's Overseas Trade and Investment Commissioners visited regional centres and  provided updates on their markets. "Export Week is held each year to promote the benefits of exporting for business, highlight market opportunities overseas and recognise the exporting efforts and successes of business," said Queensland Trade Minister Stephen Robertson. "Exporting is vital to Queensland's economy and to supporting jobs in our communities. I urge Queensland firms involved or interested in exporting to take part in Trade Queensland's Export Week in 2009 and get along to as many relevant activities as you can." Market and industry experts will be on hand to impart information on opportunities in key overseas markets, said Robertson: "Attending these targeted, export-focused events will assist you in pinpointing overseas market opportunities and accessing important information to support your company's exporting future." One highlight will be the Premier of Queensland Export Awards gala presentation on October 21, celebrating the state's best exporters in the lead up to the Australian Export Awards next month. Export Week runs from October 19 to 23. For more information, or to find events, visit
