Flight Training Australia in Queensland has secured a major deal with China Eastern Airlines and the Civil Aviation University of China, Tianjin, to train its pilots. Queensland Minister for Trade Stephen Robertson announced the deal from Beijing last week, saying the state has worked hard to secure the agreement. "The Queensland Government has promoted our State as a preferred location for international pilot training since 2002 and has been working to encourage the expansion of the industry in Brisbane and regional areas," he said. "Flight Training Australia this year became the only flight training organisation in Queensland and one of only five in Australia that holds the required approvals to train Chinese pilots." More than 130 pilots are expect to enter the school before the end of next year. Robertson said aviation was set to grow and it was important to take advantage of the need for training and education in the sector: "Queensland is well placed to capture more of this important education export market."
