A new three part webinar series, Accessing Virtual Channels in the United States, aims to help companies break into the US market. The virtual market is the fastest growing market in the US, with 70 percent of households regularly purchasing items online or by other virtual means. Though the US has seen some of the highest failure rates for Australian exporters, companies are now being urged to tap this market. Virtual, or alternate channels include catalogues, television retailing, and eCommerce. A new three part webinar series, Accessing Virtual Channels in the United States, aims to help companies break into the US market. Presented by the Export Council of Australia and Access USA, the series will allow companies to hear from in-market experts on opportunities and the keys to success in the US. The first webinar focuses on television retailing. With current estimates putting annual sales at approximately $9 billion, television is an opportunity to reach over 100 million cable households. The second webinar will be looking at catalogues and mail ordering, a sector with sales estimated at over $360 billion per year. With the US being home to the largest and most sophisticated eCommerce market in the world, the third webinar focuses on eCommerce. In 2011, retail eCommerce spending reached a record $161 billion, a 13 percent increase from 2010. Each webinar will include a case study of a successful company in each sector. Amazon.com Inc is the largest online retailer in the world, with over 140 million active customers around the world and net sales of $48 billion in 2011. QVC Inc is one of the largest multimedia retailers in the world, broadcasting live 24 hours a day, 364 days a year, and receiving more than 181 million calls a year in the US alone. Hammacher, Schlemmer & Co is one of the oldest retailers in the US, producing a catalogue that boasts a circulation of 30 million each year. The webinars will begin at the end of May. In this highly-focused three-part webinar series, presented by the Export Council of Australia in conjunction with Access USA, you will hear from in-market experts on the opportunities for Australian companies seeking to break into the US market and the keys to success.
