The Victorian Government and Austrade will work together to increase the export of automotive components, technology and services to Asia and boost inbound investment. "This agreement will see us pool resources with Austrade to create an even stronger impact in China, India, Thailand and Korea. New automotive specialists will be located in these countries to build relationships between indigenous and Australian automotive companies," said Martin Pakula, the Minister for Industry and Trade in Victoria. The collaboration involves the development of a new network managed by both Austrade and the Victorian Government, which will be funded by the Australian Government’s New Car Plan for a Greener Future and the Victorian Automotive Manufacturing Action Plan. Australian Parliamentary Secretary for Trade Anthony Byrne also highlighted the possibility of an Australia-China collaboration following Minister for Trade Simon Crean's visit to china earlier this year. "This initiative will help Australian businesses further capitalise on opportunities that exist in the automotive industry in China." he said Last year, Australia’s automotive exports to China were worth $79.3 million.
