Colleagues, friends and family of Jakarta bombing victim Craig Senger gathered in Canberra yesterday to farewell the Austrade official, one of three Australians killed in the attacks earlier this month. Austrade chief economist Tim Harcourt spoke highly of his colleague and said Senger was proud of his posting: "He told me that representing Australia overseas was his way of wearing the baggy green cap." Harcourt added that Senger was an advocate for social justice and believed in Austrade's mission of helping Australian companies in order to better the lives of ordinary people, "whether they be in the factories of western Sydney, the mines of north Western Australia or the rural hinterland of Indonesia or India". Among the several hundred mourners was Prime Minister Kevin Rudd. Parliament House will host a public memorial for Senger this morning.
