Now is the time to get into the UK, says UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) after launching a competition for Australian and New Zealand business owners to expand their business in the UK. The Go UK competition will provide support packages of over $25,000 to three Australian companies and one New Zealand company to kick start their UK expansion plans. Richard Morris, director general of UKTI, said that there are a number of factors that make the UK an attractive business destination, even in the current global economic downturn. "The UK is recovering from the biggest financial crisis for generations and a recession which drew in most of the world. The fact the UK is the second most popular market for Australian companies to invest in shows it remains a big draw for internationally minded businesses," Morris said. Australian and New Zealand companies are being urged to enter the competition to secure a place in the UK market, the world’s sixth biggest economy. Due to the government’s actions to rebuild the economy, Morris said that the UK now has a positive environment for businesses to grow. "Australian companies are finding success in many different industry sectors," Morris said. "Our message is clear, Britain is open for business." For more information about the competition visit Entries are open until 17 February 2012.
