Top exporters have been awarded for their work at the 49th Annual Australian Export Awards. 12 companies were recognised for their exporting success in agribusiness, arts and entertainment, education and training, minerals and energy, services and manufacturing. Trade minister Craig Emerson said the awards reflected the depth and diversity of the Australian economy. "Australia is a vibrant, competitive economy which owes its good reputation in the world to its entrepreneurs, business people and investors," Emerson said. Winners included Sedgman Limited from Queensland, who took home the Prime Minister's Australian Exporter of the Year award, as well as the Minerals and Energy award. NSW company Laservision continued its successful streak winning the Arts and Entertainment award, while Almondco Australia from South Australia won the Regional Exporter award. Emerson said that the award winners gained a winning edge by developing and adapting new technology in fields such as clean energy. "These finalists and so many more have excelled in finding new ways of successfully marketing their products and services in tough global markets." The awards recognised 75 national finalists that contributed $5.6 billion in export earnings to the Australian economy and employed more than 10,000 people. The awards are one of Australia’s most prestigious and longest-running business award programs, celebrating the contribution Australian companies make to the country’s economy.
