The Go UK competition has announced three Australian company winners who will receive a support package worth $25,000 to kick start their business in the UK. Almost 90 companies ranging from different industries including the ICT sector, the creative industry, biotechnology companies and the green/low carbon space entered the competition. The success has given Brisbane winner, Fulcrum Suspensions and Melbourne winner, Fusion Business Solutions, resources to make the most of starting a business in the UK. The UK has a favourable exchange rate, strong predicted economic growth, and comparatively low cost of rental and retail property, making it a great place for Australian businesses to expand. Sydney winner was Pip Jamieson, Director of The Loop, a creative community connecting talent with companies and career opportunities. "It has been a complete whirlwind experience, I am still on cloud nine. It is great to know we are going to have this support going in. I still have goose-bumps," Jamieson said, three days after the announcement was made. Jamieson had already planned to move The Loop to the UK, however this opportunity has meant that this expansion can happen more rapidly. "For myself and Matt Fayle, my business partner, our vision was to launch the platform in Australia then take it straight to the UK. We have always dreamed of that. We have been planning for about six months to launch in the UK, so it was great timing when we saw a competition come through. We thought this is exactly the kind of support we need," Jamieson said. She said she's excited and eager to set up office in London and make the most of the opportunity. "The plan is to set up the London office with an operational team of sales, marketing and customer support. Then approach the creative businesses and get them using the site and creating a really rich community for London. There is nothing like The Loop in London yet which is great, no competitors. It's just trying to get into the market as quick as possible," Jamieson added. Australian businesses are seeing the UK as a great place to expand their business and with the London 2012 Olympics looming, there's no time better than now. Winners have an opportunity to work with UK Trade & Investment. The prize includes: -      Return business class flights to the UK with British Airways -      Business registrations and six months worth of accounting support with Kevin Beare & Co -      Business consultancy and executive introductions from Alan MacKelworth
