The Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AACCI) will host the inaugural Australia Arab Business Forum and Expo over October 25-26. The event, being held in Melbourne, will provide expert speakers from both Australian and Arab countries to discuss prospects for business and investment opportunities available through enhanced Australian-Arab cooperation and understanding. AACCI CEO Robert Newton said it was gratifying that Australian companies were coming forward to offer sponsorship and participation in the event. He said the Forum will provide an opportunity for high level dialogue between Australian business representatives and their Arab counterparts: "Networking opportunities will be abundant." The Forum has already confirmed speakers from Arab countries including the former Syrian Economy and Trade Minister and former Vice President of the World Bank Dr Ghassan Al Rifai and the chief economist at Dubai International Finance Centre Richard Vaughan. Australian business speakers include the chief executive of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Peter Anderson and CEO of Citadel Resources Ines Scotland. The industry sectors that the Forum will focus range from renewable energy solutions to tourism, hospitality and sport and leisure. There will also be specific sessions centred around women in business that will provide a platform for Australian and Arab business women to network and share their ideas, experience and plans for closer cooperation.
