Vinnies CEO Sleepout is a one-night event over one of the longest and coldest nights of the year.
Hundreds of CEOs, business owners, exporters as well as community and government leaders sleep outdoors to support the many Australians who are experiencing homelessness.
Each CEO Sleepout participant commits to raising thousands of dollars to help Vinnies provide essential services to the people who need them
Last year, the event raised $5.6 million to help an estimated 254,000 Australians who seek homelessness services each year.
Justin Fischer who recently featured on TV reality hit Married at First Sight Australia, is taking part in this year’s annual Vinnies CEO Sleepout in Sydney on June 21.
Justin is the CEO and founder of Brullen, a successful manufacturer, distributor and exporter of innovative soft serve machines. He is hoping to raise $50,000 for the cause.
Here are the five reasons why Justin is sleeping out:
- Justin knows how quickly you can lose it all
After experiencing a separation and letting go of his first business, Justin was left with no option but to start over from scratch. Eventually, with hard work and motivation, he built up his current business, Brullen, but this was no easy feat. Justin knows others aren’t so fortunate and how easily someone can lose it all. For many homeless Australians, they find themselves in circumstances they never expected and without a hand to help.
- Homelessness can affect anyone at any time
By supporting Justin’s participation in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, anyone can help make a difference to tens of thousands of Australians. The 2016 Census reported that over 116,000 Australians are experiencing homelessness. Of these, 59% are under 35, 41% are women and 14% are under 12 years old.
- Each dollar raised can help break the devastating cycle of homelessness
One night sleeping rough for Justin can mean a family is off the streets for life. Each dollar raised helps Vinnies provide essential services such as clothing, shelter, food and more to Australians experiencing homelessness. These services can help break the cycle of homelessness.
- Every Australian deserves food and safe shelter
As a father to two daughters, Justin knows firsthand how important it is provide a stable and safe environment for children. Through participating in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, Justin can help keep a family full and safe. Donations of $55 can feed a family for day, $105 can provide emergency accommodation for a family crisis, $205 can relocate a person sleeping rough to accommodation services, and $505 can help pay rent for a family facing eviction.
- Using his profile to take a stand
After featuring on the 2018 season of Married at First Sight, Justin has a public platform to reach Australians and spread a message that can make a difference.
