Young international trade challengers announced

Young Achievement Australia (YAA) will field the three teams in the International Trade Challenge in Singapore this week.

Sponsored by FedEx, the FedEx Express/Young Achievement Australia/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge is run in conjunction with YAA’s student Business Skills Program. It asks participants to devise a market entry strategy for the students’ business.

Secondary students Laura Flint and Jade Robertson of St Catherine’s School in Melbourne, and Sydney-based Jason Feng and Tom Cheng of James Ruse Agricultural High School, and Angell Zhang and Sijing Chen of Cheltenham Girls High School will represent Australia at the international final, which runs until August 6.

“The International Trade Challenge aims to help highlight and develop the entrepreneurial spirit of young people in Australia by providing opportunities in international trade education, and these skills certainly shone through in the finalists,” said Rhicke Jennings, managing director of FedEx Express Australasia.

“We congratulate the winning teams and wish them well in the regional final in Singapore.”

Other countries competing include Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand.
