Trade takes Tokyo Wallabies-All Blacks game

Tomorrow’s Bledisloe Cup rugby union match between the Australian Wallabies and the New Zealand All Blacks in Tokyo, Japan, will have a trade twist courtesy of Austrade.

Austrade’s Business Club Australia program will once again form the hub of Australian trade and investment activity to complement the international nature of the match, which provides a strong platform to promote Australian capability to the Japanese market according to Elizabeth Masamune, Austrade’s Japan country manager.

“Business Club Australia has a proven track record of utilising the excitement of high profile sporting events to support the development of long term business connections,” she said. “With strong links between rugby and corporate Australia, the event will unite the Australian expatriate business community in Japan and attract through that involvement a wide range of influential Japanese companies.”

The Australian Rugby Union and Austrade will host the Qantas Wallabies squad and 500 Australian and Japanese business people at a networking reception offering access to some of Japan’s leading companies and institutional investors.

Business Club Australia has been Australia’s trade platform for sporting events since the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games and will host programs throughout 2010 to coincide with the Vancouver Winter Olympics in Canada, the Delhi Commonweath Games in India, and the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
