Tourism the winner in ‘best job’ interview
Tourism Queensland will announce the new caretaker for Hamilton Island on Wednesday, after interviews and competency tasks for the 16 candidates have been completed.
The job advertisement has been a boon for Hamilton Island tourism with media from around the world following the candidates as they complete tasks, such as a swimming test.
Tourism Queensland spokesperson Anthony Hayes said the competition has already generated $110 million in international publicity: “The whole idea of this promotion is to find the perfect person to help us sell Queensland but to tell the rest of the world we really are open for business.”
The creative job application process will see one candidate become caretaker of the island for six months at a salary of $150,000.
