Melbourne software exporter Aconex took home three awards at last week’s 2009 Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) iAwards event.

“We continue to witness the strength of Australian technology innovation. These innovations will generate new market opportunities and improve the productivity of Australian businesses as a whole,” said AIIA chief executive Ian Birks.

Aconex, which provides a sophisticated document management tool for the construction industry that increases efficiency and saves literally millions of sheets of paper a year, was awarded ICT Exporter of the Year as well as the Inspiration Award and Best Industrial Application.

The iAwards recognised ICT businesses in 27 categories including e-learning, media and entertainment, and community applications.
