Tasmanian researcher goes to Russia

University of Tasmania researcher Professor Michael Negnevitsky has been invited to speak in Russia under Austrade’s Visiting Researcher Program. He will visit fellow researchers and professors from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute and St Petersburg State Technical University.

Negnevitsky is one of the recognised world leaders in the areas of power system analysis, intelligent system applications and clean energy applications. His current project involves developing a non-diesel power supply for regional areas.

“This project aims to develop hybrid stand-alone power systems with wind as the renewable energy source and hydrogen as the primary energy storage medium,” he said. “Such a hybrid system will produce reliable, high quality power under all conditions to fulfil customer demands at a reduced cost.”

Negnevitsky will be in Russia until September 27.
