Business Club Australia takes on Vancouver Olympics

Austrade’s Business Club Australia will once again present a robust business program in conjunction with a major sporting event, leveraging off the back of the Vancouver Winter Olympics starting this week.

“[The program] will showcase Australia as a strong, stable and sophisticated economy, offering leading edge research and technology in goods and services and an attractive place to invest,” said Stefan Trofimovs, Austrade’s senior Trade & Investment commissioner for Canada. “The BCA Vancouver 2010 program will utilise the excitement of the Games to create business matching opportunities for Australian companies seeking to expand in Canada.”

Events on the program will assist networking and include presentations identifying business opportunities in both countries. BCA Vancouver kicks off a series of Australian business events in Canada, which will include a number of trade shows and the G8 and G20 summits hosted by Canada later this year.

“Canada is a natural market for Australian companies as both countries share similarities in culture, business, and government structures,” said Trofimovs.

The BCA concept has leveraged business opportunities from international sporting events since the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and will also run during the Commonwealth Games in Delhi and FIFA World Cup in South Africa this year.
