Building sustainable export growth to Spain
New laws passed by the Spanish Government on sustainable building should see an increase in Australian exports in this sector, believes Auriol Seaton, business development manager for Austrade.
Austrade recently conducted a seminar entitled ‘Australia and Spain – Links to Build a Sustainable Future’ in Madrid to highlight growing opportunities in this market.
“Few Australian or Spanish companies realise that there is an established presence of Australian construction and project management companies active in the green building sector in Spain,” said Seaton.
The event both raised awareness of Australian involvement in Spanish projects and provided a platform to develop bilateral commercial relations.
Opportunities abound in the refurbishment sector now that building works, including renovation, need to comply with sustainable building regulations. This covers energy saving efficiency, lighting reduction technologies, water management and the use of innovative building and recycling materials.
