Australian exporters say g’day to USA

Austrade’s G’Day USA campaign kicks off this month in key US cities Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and San Diego. Now in its seventh year, the campaign is designed to showcase Australian produce, technology and skills and is the largest foreign country promotion held annually in the USA.

“The 2010 program will again demonstrate Australia as an innovative, sophisticated economy with leading edge research technology, goods and services with an increased focus on water and energy management,” said Grame Barty, Austrade’s regional director for the Americas.

“Austrade continues to play a pivotal role in the program, creating new business opportunities in energy, water management and financial services as well as promoting Australia as a desirable place for investment.”

The West Coast program includes a clean technology networking event, water and energy forums, and wine and tourism promotion, as well as an Innovation Shoot Out event to showcase seven Australian technology companies to the Silicon Valley investment community.

The East Coast program will focus on Australian capabilities in industries including financial services, fashion and resources and energy, plus a gourmet food and wine showcase to be held in New York’s The Food Emporium stores.

In 2008/09 the US was Australia’s third largest trading partner with two-way trade valued at $53.1 billion.
