Australian Export Award finalists announced

Following the conclusion of the New South Wales Export Awards on Wednesday night, 77 Australian Export Awards finalists have been confirmed. Minister for Trade Simon Crean congratulated the finalists, all winners at state and territory level, and welcomed them to the national round of the awards.

“This group of exporters earned more than $10 billion in exports and employed more than 30,000 people last year. That represents a significant contribution to our economy and these companies should be congratulated for all their hard work and commitment,” he said.

“The Australian Export Awards is an important program that not only raises awareness of the importance of international trade, but also helps build our business brand overseas.”

The state and territory export award winners will compete in 12 categories at the national awards, and one will be named as the Prime Minister’s Australian Exporter of the Year.

Crean recognised that winners came from a great range of businesses, both in size and across different industries: “It is heartening to see the diversity of this year’s finalists. From traditional agribusiness producers of livestock, grain and cotton to services such as tourism and healthcare. We also have representatives from the clean energy industry, with solar and wind products.”

The Australia Export Awards will be presented at Parliament House in Canberra on November 20.
