Arabian heights for Australian education

Australia now has Memorandum of Cooperation in Higher Education with Saudi Arabia after Minister for Education Julia Gillard signed the agreement with Saudi Arabian Minister for Higher Education Dr Khalid bin Mohammed Al Ankary yesterday.

The cooperative agreement sees the two nations build on an existing educational partnership, with provision to share information and resources including allowing research cooperation and the exchange of academic staff, researchers and students.

Al Ankary visited Australia as part of a 26-person delegation of Saudi Arabian senior officials. The delegation also met with Minister for Foreign Affairs Stephen Smith, Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research Kim Carr and senior officials at Australian universities and the CSIRO.
