Applications are now open for the Australia-ASEAN Emerging Leaders Program (A2ELP) – a three-month leadership program to be held next year for SE Asian and Australian social entrepreneurs.

The program, for 15 social entrepreneurs from ASEAN and Australia, includes a pre-program education, a ten-day intensive program in Melbourne and Sydney.

Participants will take part in workshops, networking events, field visits, cultural activities, and support for implementation.

The program has been designed to foster connections between emerging leaders across Australia and the region.

A2ELP is for individuals who have founded or co-founded organisations that generate social, environmental, or economic impact.

Participants will build knowledge of how to scale a social enterprise, engage a range of stakeholders, improve their cultural intelligence, and apply lean start-up methodology.

Unprecedented opportunity

Further, they will have the opportunity to network with other participants, social entrepreneurs, academic experts, and industry leaders.

The program coincides with the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit in Sydney – the first time Australia has hosted a summit with ASEAN.

The summit is an historic and unprecedented opportunity to strengthen Australia’s strategic partnership with ASEAN and deliver tangible economic and security benefits to Australia.

As a group, ASEAN is Australia’s third largest trading partner. This summit provides an important forum to discuss how we can continue to make our region safer and more prosperous.

Delegates will be invited to take part in activities and networking events connected to the Summit.

A2ELP is an initiative of the Australian Government through the Australia-ASEAN Council at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the ASEAN-Australia 2018 Special Summit Taskforce at the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.
